How to complete a Registration Application

APPLICANT - CURRENT OWNER

Registrations are limited to FINANCIAL MEMBERS of the Society. If you are not already a member complete click here to join or renew.

 

APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION

Complete all information and submit with a Breeding Certificate and payment fee.

If an inspection is required, either have the horse inspected by the inspector in your area or submit video footage.

The Society Inspector will consider the horse for ASH type, conformation, movement, colour, height, temperament, overall appearance and the like for acceptance or otherwise.

BRANDING

The horse must be CLEARLY BRANDED with a stock brand, identification number and foaling season year number.

HOW TO TRACE A BRAND?

The Society does not have a register of brands; it only records a horse's brands, when registered, for identification purposes. To trace the owner of a brand, we would recommend that you contact the Registrar of Brands in your state for assistance.

NATURAL SERVICE

ASH Breeding Certificate signed by the Stallion Owner is compulsory – The original or a copy of the ASH Breeding Certificate must be attached to the Application for Registration when lodged with the Society. DNA Testing for parentage is optional, NOT compulsory.

 

ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

DNA TESTING and sire verification (sire only) is compulsory. The Society must have a DNA profile for the sire.

An ASH Breeding Certificate signed by the Stallion Owner is compulsory.

 

EMBRYO TRANSFERS

DNA TESTING and parentage verification (sire and dam) are compulsory. The Society must have a DNA profile for the sire and dam.

An ASH Breeding Certificate signed by the Stallion Owner is compulsory.

 

TRANSFERS - HORSES BEING REGISTERED

NOT REQUIRED - if the progeny is being registered by the membership that owned or leased the dam at time of foaling.

NOT REQUIRED - if the Member registering the progeny, purchased the progeny as a foal at foot (under 365 days old), with the dam.

REQUIRED - If the member registering the progeny is different from the membership that owned or leased the dam at the time of foaling and a transfer fee will apply.

DNA TESTING (If required)

Submit the Application for Registration with payment of the registration and DNA fee. A kit will then be issued by the Society for collection of a hair sample by the owner. DNA testing is the most accurate method of parentage verification.

GENETIC DISORDER TESTING - OLWS, HYPP, HERDA, PSSMI, MH, GBED (If required) 

  • All-female and entire progeny born prior to 1st August 2020, being progeny of horses testing positive to a Genetic Disorder (carrier or affected), must be tested and the results will be NOTED on the horse’s registration and Online Stud Book.
  • All-female and entire progeny born after 1st August 2020, being progeny of horses testing positive to a Genetic Disorder (carrier or affected), must be tested for Genetic Disorders and results must be NEGATIVE to be accepted for registration.

Submit the Application for Registration with payment of the registration and DNA fee. A kit will then be issued by the Society for collection of a hair sample by the owner.
