Registration Eligibility

See below for the different registration types

Mares, fillies, stallions, colts and geldings are eligible for Stud Book ASH Registration.

Stud Book horses do NOT require inspection.

  • STUD BOOK AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE STALLION - SIRE REGISTERED mated to a Stud Book Australian Stock Horse mare
  • STUD BOOK AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE MARE mated to a Sire Registered, Stud Book Australian Stock Horse stallion
  • STUD BOOK AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE STALLION - SIRE REGISTERED mated to a Second Cross Australian Stock Horse mare
  • SECOND CROSS AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE MARE mated to a Sire Registered, Stud Book Australian Stock Horse stallion

 Age determined on 1st August

If the Stallion Owner was unfinancial when the mare was served, a $30.00 penalty fee will apply.

Southern Hemisphere horses are one year older on 1st August each year, due 1st August.

Northern Hemisphere horses are one year older on 1st January, due 1st January.

  • 1 year & under 3 years $120.00
  • 3 years & under 6 years $150.00

GELDINGS
  • Any age $80.00

First Cross Book - ELIGIBILITY

First Cross ASH Registration is limited to mares, fillies and geldings ONLY. Stallions and colts are NOT eligible.

The horse must pass inspection by a Society Inspector.

  • STUD BOOK AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE STALLION - SIRE REGISTERED mated to an unregistered or non-Australian Stock Horse mare
  • STUD BOOK AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE MARE mated to an unregistered or non-Australian Stock Horse stallion
  • FIRST CROSS AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE STALLION - SIRE REGISTERED mated to a First or Second Cross Australian Stock Horse mare
  • FIRST or SECOND CROSS AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE MARE mated to a Sire Registered, First Cross Australian Stock Horse stallion

Second Cross Book - ELIGIBILITY

Mares, fillies, stallions, colts and geldings are eligible for Second Cross ASH Registration.

Second Cross horses do NOT require inspection.

  • STUD BOOK AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE STALLION - SIRE REGISTERED mated to a First Cross Australian Stock Horse mare
  • FIRST CROSS AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE MARE mated to a Sire Registered, Stud Book Australian Stock Horse stallion
  • SECOND CROSS AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE STALLION - SIRE REGISTERED mated to a Second Cross Australian Stock Horse mare
  • SECOND CROSS AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE MARE mated to a Sire Registered, Second Cross Australian Stock Horse stallion

Special Merit Book - ELIGIBILITY

Mares, fillies, stallions, colts and geldings are eligible for Special Merit ASH Registration.

Special Merit horses will only be accepted as Second Cross status and the registration number will be identified as “C2-”.

Horses may be registered at any age and must pass inspection by a Society Inspector.

  • Horses eligible for Special Merit registration must have Registered Australian Stock Horses with Stud Book status on both sides of the horse’s pedigree within two generations. The Australian Stock Horse breeding must appear at least twice on one side of the pedigree and once on the other side. Under Special Merit registration, performances are not considered.

Horses must be registered as an Australian Stud Book (Thoroughbred). Race eligible horses, registered in the Non Thoroughbred Register – ntb, are not eligible.

Registration is limited to mares and stallions and are NOT be eligible for ASH events or awards.

Horses must be a minimum of two years old and pass inspection by a Society Inspector.

Breeding Purposes horses will only be accepted as equivalent to Second Cross status and will be identified as “B2-”.
