In order to support and develop Australian Stock Horse Society Judges and Volunteers, the ASHS Judges Accreditation Scheme was introduced in 2005. The scheme has developed over the years and now consists of 4 levels - Probationary, Associate, Level 1 and Level 2.

Level 1 Judges
Level 1 Accredited Judges
Are you interested in becoming a Level 1 Accredited Judge for The Australian Stock Horse Society? You need to be a financial member of the Society, who is keen to develop the breed.
Young, old, experienced or not this is a great opportunity to learn from the beginning or perhaps brush up on those skills. The most important thing is to keep judging consistent across all events and maintain the standard of excellence of the Australian Stock Horse breed. Keeping in mind that Judges ultimately maintain the standard of the breed, and the tone for competitor behaviour.
Level 1 Accredited Judges Refreshers
Are you already an Accredited Level 1 Judge who has to do their 3 year refresher to maintain your accreditation? You have 2 choices – either attend a workshop or complete an Activity Report. You must complete at least one Judges Refresher Workshop in every 6 year period to remain on the Judges list. To attend a workshop please complete either
To refresh you can choose to be remotely assessed, via a Refresher Activity form, if you can’t make it to a workshop. To complete a Refresher, download and complete the Refresher Activity Form and submit to Head Office. This will then be assessed by both the Judging Assessor and the Events Convenor who will review the submitted form against assessment criteria. Head Office will advise of the outcome of this assessment. However, if this option is selected, the Judge must attend a Workshop in 3 years when they are required to refresh their ASHS Judging Accreditation again. Please contact Head Office if you have any questions.
Or you can attend a workshop to be assessed - a calendar of 2019 workshops is below. This is a great way to refresh your skill and discuss the challenges and issues that all Judges face with other Judges. Check out the dates and apply - either complete the application manually or online to attend.

2019 Calendar coming soon!
Keen to become a Judge but don’t think you have enough experience? Attend a Judges workshop and begin on the path to becoming a Judge by graduating as a Probationary Judge. This level of Judging allows you to Judge alongside an accredited Judge to gain confidence and experience at Branch Shows. The list above (can this link to the top of the page?) is provided to enable Probationary Judges to gain assistance from Mentor Judges, Show Committee and Branches, to obtain the necessary experience on the path to full accreditation.
To graduate, a Probationary Judge can either attend another Level 1 Workshop to be reassessed or complete three Judging Assignments. The Judging Assignments are to be submitted to Head Office where they will be forwarded to a Judging Assessor and the Events Convenor to determine if the applicant should graduate and become a Level 1 Accredited Judge or make other suggestions for steps to be taken to achieve the accreditation.
